VeriLocation to debut all-new contactless CANbus system at CV Operator Show

April 2010

VeriLocation’s contactless CANbus system will make its world debut at this year’s Commercial Vehicle Operator Show on in Hall 5, Stand 5028.

Thanks to innovative new technology, the CANbus system now requires no intrusive ECU surgery whatsoever, making the need to open up control systems to enable fleet monitoring a thing of the past.

The system uses a plastic ‘wrap’ in place of the old ‘CAN High’ and ‘CAN Low’ wires

The wrap encases the vehicle’s CAN wires and is able to ‘read’ the electronic signals being sent through the system using electromagnetic sensors – effectively ‘phone tapping’.

The data is then converted into tamper-proof telemetry that allows you to see exactly how your driver is treating your wagon, monitoring all aspects of his driving including fuel consumption, braking pressure and revs.

Driver mpg results reflect this behaviour, by changing this behaviour you can improve your fleet’s mpg figures.

All the information gathered by the system is collated and put into a report, providing valuable information for you and helping your drivers to improve their driving and, therefore, the efficiency of your business.

Information from the built-in GPS telling you where your vehicles are is fed back to a live map screen that you can monitor from the depot, any computer with internet access or even your smart phone.

MD Andrew Overton said, “We’re delighted to be able to launch this new system at the Commercial Vehicle Operator Show.

“Fleet managers are, understandably, concerned about anything that involves interfacing with their vehicles in case of warranty issues.

“But, with this new system they can have all the advantages of CANbus without having to worry about voiding warrantees, thanks to our diode one way read box.

The new system will also mean the availability of much shorter installation times, making installation of CANbus better value for money and bringing disruption to fleet operations down to the absolute minimum.”

He added: “Existing customers have so far seen a 10-1 return on their investment, simply through monitoring and altering driver behaviour and, therefore, slashing their maintenance and fuel costs.”

VeriLocation now also offers a free initial consultancy as part of its CANbus package, demonstrating to Directors what can be achieved with the system and how to achieve it, then setting six month targets. After six months VeriLocation’s experts will return for a review to offer advice on how results can be improved.

VeriLocation has been in GPS tracking and mapping since 1995, and now tracks more than 10,000 devices and vehicles in the UK.
